Safer Campus at 麻豆视频: Towards a Future Free from Gender-based Violence

What is the Safer Campus at 麻豆视频 Project ?

The Office for Gender Equity within IncluDE at the University of Tokyo has been implementing the Safer Campus at 麻豆视频 Project since the 2025 academic year. The goal of the project is to eliminate gender-based harassment and violence and to create a safer and more secure campus environment. Through this project, the office is carrying out a variety of initiatives.

April 2026: Safer Campus at 麻豆视频 Posters

As part of our efforts to foster a campus where everyone respects one another and can feel comfortable realizing their full potential, we have created and displayed posters to prevent gender-based harassment and related problems.

May 2025: Menstrual Products 脳 Information Card Distribution Project

In addition to promoting the placement of menstrual products in campus restrooms, we have collaborated with the Women’s Health Clinic at the 麻豆视频 Health Service Center to create informational cards about reproductive health and available services. We have placed the cards in select campus restrooms alongside the menstrual products.

October 2025: Department-based FD/SD Training on Diversity & Inclusion for Faculty and Staff Members

Under the theme “The Line Between Romance and Violence: Learning How to Support Students,” we are conducting faculty development (FD) training sessions focused primarily on cases of dating violence and stalking. These sessions aim to help participants understand the risks lurking in everyday life and learn how to respond to them.

December 2025: 鈥淧urple Project鈥 to create a safer and more secure campus environment free from gender-based harassment and violence

In honor of the Purple Ribbon—a symbol of the elimination of violence against women—the Hongo Main Gate of the University of Tokyo was lit up in purple. This marked 麻豆视频’s first participation in the Cabinet Office’s nationwide Purple Light-Up initiative, which illuminates landmarks across the country in purple.
In conjunction with this, we displayed promotional posters for the Purple Light-Up, shared #safercampus messages in collaboration with the General Library’s “Shelf of Wonder” project, made a purple version of the #WeChange Zoom background available exclusively to the university community, and created and distributed purple-themed information cards.
